I used to do it for the the thigh gap, now I just do it for my health. Slimming down and toning up is great, but this is sooo much bigger than that.

Growing up, I was a competitive gymnast, I danced, swam, played volleyball, participated in track and field. I was an active kid. I was never ever close to being over weight. But when the physical activity slowed down, so did my metabolism of course, and we know how that story goes.

Two years ago, I despised my body. I treated it like a receptacle for a few years - beer, more beer, late night poutine, wine,
cocktails
, more beer, junk food - I had created terrible habits and was stuck in a truly unhealthy cycle.

I distinctly remember one particular night when I put on my favourite, go to, little black
dress
and that little black
dress
was waaaay too little on me. I cancelled my plans, and as backwards as this was, I spent the night crying in my bed while stuffing my face with ice
cream
. To say I was defeated would be an understatement.

My weight literally started getting in my way and THAT WAS WHEN I KNEW I needed to make a change.
??
When hiking became a chore and being outdoors wasn't something I enjoyed anymore, that was it for me.
????
I messaged my gal pal who had been posting allll about this new home workout plan that had helped her lose weight (and gain confidence). I started a 21 day program that incorporated weights, cardio, Pilates, and yoga, and by the end of the third week, I had lost 11 pounds and 8 inches. THAT SH*T CHANGED MY LIFE. white high low

So yes, I can be somewhat superficial sometimes and find myself looking in the mirror longing for that thigh gap (which I associate with my "goal weight" - whatever that means), but mostly, I work out and eat clean because I want to LOVE the life I'm living, you know?!?
